Vera McGuire

Vera Hedlun McGuire passed away on Christmas Eve at the age of 94. She was born October 22nd, 1931 to John Campbell and Helen (Noel) Campbell of Utica, Montana. She graduated from Hobson High School in 1949. Vera attended Montana State University and Eastern Montana College where she received her teaching certificate. She married William Hedlun on June 3rd, 1951. Bill died in 1983 after a long struggle with multiple sclerosis. Vera married Lloyd McGuire and enjoyed 42 years of marriage.

Vera enjoyed gardening, cooking, playing bridge, camping, scrapbooking, square dancing and extensive travel. Her greatest joy was time spent at family gatherings and making the holidays special. She was very involved in Zion Lutheran Church and a member of Jayson’s Twirlers square dancing club.

Vera is survived by her daughters Glenda Oldenburg (Bob) of Helena, Montana and Suzie Flentie (Craig) of Lewistown, Montana; son-in-law Mike Milburn of Cascade, Montana; stepson Mike McGuire (Char) of Dripping Springs, Texas; stepdaughters Michelle Andrikopoulus (George) of Red Lodge, Montana and Susan Rademaker of Spokane, Washington and her brother Myron Campbell of Hobson, Montana. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her first husband William Hedlun, second husband Lloyd McGuire, daughter Carleen Milburn, step-son-in-law Steve Rademaker, parents John and Helen Campbell, brothers Stan and Chuck Campbell and sister Charlotte Tindall.

Celebration of Life for Vera Hedlun McGuire will be Saturday, January 17th at 11:00 AM at Zion Lutheran Church (604 W Evelyn St) with a luncheon following. Cremation has taken place; committal will be in the Lewistown City Cemetery. The Cloyd Funeral Home is assisting the family. Memorials can be made in Vera’s name to Zion Lutheran Church, Flathead Lutheran Bible Camp or Lewistown Council on Aging and they may be left at the Cloyd Funeral Home.
