Troy D. Eades, 55, of Lewistown, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 15, 2026, at his home in Lewistown, Montana, of natural causes.
Troy was born on April 15, 1971, in Lewistown, Montana, the son of Ronald O. and Susan D. (Tindall) Bechtel. He received his education in Lewistown, graduating from Fergus High School. He attended Paradise Christian Academy in 1989 and completed Cheyenne Aero Technical School in 1991. He returned to Lewistown and worked for Casino Creek Concrete and later as a ranch hand. In 1989, Troy married his first wife, Kim Clark; he then adopted her daughter, Ashley, and they went on to have Jessica and Cole.
In 2001, Troy married his second wife, Vicki, and added Brian and Tyler to the family. Troy and Vicki were married for 25 years and shared a lifetime of memories with their blended family of five children.
In 1993, Troy began his career in law enforcement as a Detention Officer for Fergus County. In 1995, he moved to Roundup and became a Deputy Sheriff for Musselshell County. In 1999, he returned to Lewistown as a Deputy Sheriff for Fergus County. He was later promoted to Sergeant and then Lieutenant and was elected Fergus County Sheriff in 2014, serving until his retirement in 2017.
Troy deployed to Afghanistan as a private contractor from 2006 to 2007.
Following his retirement from law enforcement, Troy worked for Badlands Security Group. In 2022, he began working at Spika Design & Manufacturing, where he remained employed until the time of his passing.
Troy enjoyed riding his motorcycle and sharing a beer with his friends. Most of all, he cherished spending time with his family. He would travel all over to see his kids and grandkids and watch as they played sports. Troy loved taking his grandkids fishing on summer evenings.
Troy was an active member and supporter of Special Olympics Montana for 26 years. He was also an invested member of the Sons of the American Legion and the Montana Officials Association.
He is survived by his children, Ashley (Joseph) Myers of East Helena, MT, Jessica (Josh) Baird of Park City, MT, Cole (Josy) Eades of Lewistown, MT, and Tyler Svendsbye (Shayna Hertel) of Moore, MT; nine grandchildren; brothers, Brent (Mandi) Eades and Justin (Dorothy) Bechtel both of Lewistown; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ron and Sue, and his son, Brian Pearce.
Memorial Services for Troy D. Eades will be held Friday, June 26, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. in the Fergus Center for the Performing Arts, cremation has taken place. The Cloyd Funeral Home is assisting the family.
