Roy Sheldon Nuemiller

July 7, 1944 — February 5, 2026

Roy Sheldon Neumiller, 81, passed away Thursday, February 5th, 2026 in the Phillips County Hospital at 5:20 am, after a courageous battle with cancer. Roy was born July 7, 1944, in Wolf Point, MT to Bill and Nora (Daly) Neumiller. In his early teens he and his older brother taught themselves how to play guitar. In these teen years they were playing in nightclubs and even on the FayCrush Show on TV. At that time no one sang so Roy began to sing and was quite good at it.

Later his son joined the band. Roy played his music right up until May of 2025. His occupation most of his life was some type of oil field work. His first rig job he was too young to even be there. By the time his age was discovered he was old enough. He worked the derricks se he spent many years on oil rigs and with seismograph companies. He had something to do with the biggest share of all the gas wells in Phillips County. This was by way of being a roughneck, driller, oil management or company hand. He spent many hours with the work over rigs. He retired the day he turned 62 and never looked back. He and Joy had been married 62 years in October 2025.

Roy and Joy spent many days fishing at the cabin at Nelson. His love of fishing was passed down to his family, especially his grandkids.

Roy is survived by his wife Joy, son Sheldon (Rita), daughter Anita (Robert), 8 grandchildren Ryan Flatt (Sarah) Riley Flatt (Brittany), Tel Jensen, Carly Hammond (Nate), Noreine Neumiller (Ty), Shayna Watson (John), Royce Kunze (Alana), Drasen Neumiller (Katie), 14 great grandchildren Chet, Nora, Hadley, Dawson, Fletcher, Maddie, Carson, Charlotte, Trey, Roan, Kyndal, Harper, JJ and Loni. Roy was also survived by is brother, Raymond (Jeri) of Glasgow, sister Carol Neutgens (Larry) of Wolf Point and many in-laws. (or out-laws)

Roy was preceded in death by his daughter Leah, parents, sister Donna and brothers Bob and Dan.

If you have a chance, dance to a good old country song in his memory. There will be a celebration of life “Jam Session” on March 1st, 2026 from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in the VFW Club in Malta, 46 South 1st Street West Malta, Montana. Cremation has taken place with the Cloyd Funeral Home assisting the family.
