Peggy Nelson

Peggy Lee Nelson, 71, of Grass Range, passed away Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at Billings Clinic, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on September 30, 1954, in Lewistown, Montana, to Rulon and Agnes (Spek) Abbott.

Peggy attended Jasperson School on Flatwillow and Lewis and Clark Elementary in Lewistown, ultimately graduating from Grass Range High School in 1972. She went on to attend a Tech College in Billings. Peggy met and married the love of her life, George Ora Nelson. She was a devoted wife to her husband, George Nelson, who stood by her side through countless memories made in their home in Grass Range. She was a proud mother to her son, Justin Nelson, and was always eager to support him and his family with love and grace. Peggy spent many years serving the Grass Range community as Postmaster.

Peggy was a long-time member of the Lions Club and also belonged to the Grass Range Extension Club. In her personal time, Peggy found joy in creating beautiful ceramics, a hobby that allowed her to express her artistic spirit. Yet, above all, her greatest joy came from spending time with her cherished grandchildren, Kadence, Tysen, and Kyla Nelson. She relished every moment that was shared with them.

Peggy is survived by her husband of almost 50 years, George Nelson of Grass Range, her son Justin (Kristie) Nelson, also of Grass Range, and her grandchildren Kadence, Tysen, and Kyla Nelson. She is preceded in death by her parents, Rulon and Agnes Abbott, and half-brother James Simons.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, December 12, 2025, at 11:00 am at the Grass Range Cemetery. Pastor Ed Rafferty will be officiating. Please join the family  at 1:00 pm for a reception at the Wrangler Café in Grass Range.
