Nancy S. Miller

December 13, 1943 — November 8, 2021

Nancy Sue Miller 77 of Lewistown died Sunday evening, November 8th, 2021 in Valle Vista Manor, with her family by her side of natural causes. She was born December 13, 1943, in Lewistown at St. Joseph's Hospital. She was the daughter of Jerry and Roberta (Mackie) Gillen. She went to elementary school at St. Leos. Then transferred to Fergus County High where she enjoyed being a cheerleader with her lifelong friend, Barb. Throughout High School, she worked at the Homeplate Café. She graduated High school in 1962. After high school, she worked at First National Bank until marrying her high school sweetheart Ronnie Miller in 1965.

After getting married, Nancy transferred to a bank in Bozeman while Ronnie finished college. They made their home in Lewistown where she worked at the Fad Clothing Store. In 1966, they welcomed their first child, Randy, and then Chris in 1970. While raising the boys, she was a stay-at-home Mom at their home up Casino Creek. Nancy would spend hours pulling the boys around the pasture on saucers behind the Scout and then the blue suburban. Nancy did not miss out on an opportunity for a fun time. While her boys were in high school, she enjoyed tournaments and cheering them on.

She later worked at Central Feed Company. During the summer months, you could always find Nancy fishing, listening to music on the jukebox, relaxing, and socializing with family and friends on Warm Spring Creek at the family cabin.

Nancy had an undying love for Christmas that was passed on from her parents. With the help from Ronnie, they always had a house that was lit up with great holiday spirit and full of family.

Nancy was a family person always making her home welcome to family and friends. Almost every time that Randy came home from Missoula, Nancy would make her famous homecoming casserole. After moving down Casino Creek, Nancy cooked meals for Chris, and his friends and later, she made lunch for both grandkids and their friends. Nobody turned down a home-cooked meal from Nancy's kitchen. She enjoyed her weekly lunches with her classmates throughout her retirement years.

Nancy's biggest pride and joy was her grandkids. She spent countless hours at gyms and softball fields cheering her girls on. She never missed a game, concert, or program. Nancy was their go-to phone call when in need. The girls remember driving around listening to Joleen, by Dolly Parton, over and over and Nancy never complained. She would always make sure they were fed and had money in their pocket.

She is survived by her sons Randy (Sonya) of Grass Range and Chris (Kelly) of Lewistown; one brother Tim (Cheryl) Gillen of Lewistown; two granddaughters Kirsten Miller (Christyna) and Cassi Gobble (Colton) and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronnie in 2010, her parents and one sister Patti Jo Arb.
