Michael W. Durbin, 72, of Lewistown, passed away at Billings Clinic on March 30, 2025. Mike was the oldest sibling, born to Maurice and Mary Jo (Stoll) Durbin on May 4, 1952. He graduated from St. Leo’s High School in 1970. After graduation, Mike attended the College of Great Falls and shortly after became an EMT and EMT/Paramedic. Mike’s passion was in health and safety. He had 32 years as a Health and Safety Professional, he was a First Aid/CPR and AED Instructor with the American Red Cross, acted as a safety supervisor for Chemical, Petro Chemical, and Fuel Terminals, and he worked for the Bureau of Reclamation as a safety performance tester of heavy equipment.
In 1981, Mike married his best friend, Karen Gallup. Together, they lived in various places in Wyoming, Utah, Montana, and Arizona, settling in Portland in 1991. Mike and Karen lived in the Portland area until 2020, when Karen passed away. Mike returned to Lewistown in 2022 to be closer to family and friends.
Hobbies include snow skiing, hiking, camping, fishing, crabbing, motorcycling, and cruising the seas. They always enjoyed new adventures together. Mike was a member of Sons of American Legion. Mike was a devoted Catholic whose faith was very important.
He is survived by his six siblings: Gene (Bobbie) Durbin of Casper, Wyoming; Mary Kaye Tedesco (Dave Cernaro) of Helena, Montana; Kerby (Karen) Durbin, Ed Durbin both of Lewistown; Carlyle (Michelle) Durbin of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Jayme (Lorrie) Durbin of Lewistown; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Mike was preceded in death by his wife Karen, parents Mary Jo and Maurice Durbin.
Vigil Services for Mike Durbin will be Sunday, July 20, 2025, at 6:00 p.m., Memorial Mass to be Monday, July 21, 2025, at 10:00 a.m., both in St. Leo’s Catholic Church, with committal to follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Reception to follow the committal at the Eagles Club.
Arrangements are under the direction of Cloyd Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, friends are asked to make memorials to the charity of their choice and may be left with Cloyd Funeral Home.
