Marion Rose Shelton

Lewistown

Marion Rose Shelton 102 of Lewistown died early Saturday morning, February 3rd, 2024, in Valle Vista Manor of natural causes.   She was born September 21, 1921, in Jordan, MT the daughter of John W. and Gertrude (Sinz) Hensleigh.  She graduated from Jordan High School and then came to Lewistown and attended and graduated from St. Joseph’s Schooling of Nursing.  Following her graduation in 1944 she went to Wyoming where she worked for one year and then returned to Lewistown and worked at St. Joseph’s Hospital.  On May 14, 1946, she was united in marriage to Earl G. Shelton at St. Leo’s Catholic Church in Lewistown.  They made their home in Lewistown and raised their family.  In the mid 1970’s she returned to work after raising her family and worked as the night supervisor at the Central Montana Nursing Home, a job she held until her retirement in the late 1980’s.

Marion was active in St. Leo’s Catholic Church and St. Rita’s Guild as her faith was very dear to her.

She loved raising flowers, camping, boating, and spending time at Crystal Lake and later Fort Peck Lake and time with her family and they remember her as a great baker of bread, cinnamon caramel rolls and sour cream chocolate cake. 

She is survived by her children: Gary (Lesli) of Havre, MT, Neal (Pam) of Billings, MT, and Elaine Platter of Spokane, WA; Six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Earl in 2001, her son-in-law Howard, four brothers and two sisters.

Rosary and Memorial Mass for Marion R. Shelton will be Thursday, February 8th, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Leo’s Catholic Church with committal to follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery.  The Cloyd Funeral Home is assisting the family. 

Friends are asked to make memorials to the Central Montana Medical Center Cancer, St. Leo’s Catholic Church of the charity of their choice and they may be left at the Cloyd Funeral Home. Condolences for the family may be posted online at www.cloydfuneralhome.com
