Mariellen Ruth Crosmer, 98, of Lewistown, formerly of Stanford, passed away on Thursday, August 14, 2025, from natural causes at Valle Vista Manor. She was born on May 7, 1927, in Pleasant Plains, IL, the daughter of Henry and Martha (Wallner) Renken. She attended Franklin Grade School in rural Pleasant Plains and graduated from Pleasant Plains High School. She worked for the Berkshire Hogs Association and Producers Dairy, both located in Springfield, IL.
On August 31, 1953, she was united in marriage to Elmer Crosmer. Elmer served as the minister at the Lutheran parishes in Tooele, UT; Spencer/Montrose in Spencer, SD; Fairgrove, MI; Scotland/Kaylor in Scotland, SD; Stanford/Denton in Stanford, MT; and Gregory, SD. Mariellen also dedicated her life to serving the Lord, inspiring many hearts during the MANY years she spent as the organist for the Stanford/Denton church. She also served the Lutheran Church as President of the Montana District LWML.
While living in Stanford, Mariellen worked at the Sundown Inn. She served as the Curator of the Judith Basin County Museum, President of the Judith Basin County Fund Drive, and as Secretary/Treasurer for the Judith Basin County Senior Center.
She enjoyed crocheting, making plastic canvas projects, reading, assembling puzzles, sewing, and spending time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer, in 1985; her parents, Henry and Martha; two of her sisters, Florence Renken and Bernice Renken; her brother-in-law, George DeCroix; and son-in-law, Bernard Taylor.
Mariellen is survived by her children, Tim (Sheila) Crosmer of Windham, MT; Tina (Kraig) Gilkey of Sterling, CO; and Martie Taylor of Hobson, MT; one sister, Joanne DeCroix of Springfield, IL; eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. in the Trinity Lutheran Church in Stanford, with interment to follow in the Stanford Cemetery. Friends are asked to make memorials to the Trinity Lutheran Church of Stanford or a charity of their choice. Memorials may be left at Cloyd Funeral Home.
