Lauren L. Hill

August 13, 1949 — April 9, 2017

Lauren Luther Hill 68 of Lewistown, took his place in Heaven on April 13, 2017. Lauren was born in Shelby, MT on August 13, 1949 to Sherman and Velma (Spencer) Hill. He lived on the family farm before moving to Ft. Shaw, later moving to Great Falls, and then heading back to Shelby in 1965 living with his mother and step-father Jurgen B. Wiggen on the ranch. He graduated from Shelby High School in 1967 and attended MSU Northern before deciding to join the Marine Corp. Lauren served his country and had a tour in Vietnam where he received an honorable discharge and came back home to Shelby. Lauren moved to Toledo Ohio for work, where he met Rose Grogan whom he married June 20, 1975. Together they made Shelby their home and had one daughter, Amanda (grandson Brian) in 1982. They moved from Shelby to Great Falls and eventually to Tulatin Oregon. However, Montana called them home and Lauren moved back to Shelby in 1993 where he lived until moving to Lewistown for his remaining years.

Lauren enjoyed hunting, fishing, and being outdoors. His passion was aviation, he had his pilot’s license and loved flying a Cessna. Lauren was also an excellent marksman who won awards for his shooting abilities. He collected coins, read as often as he could, always had room for a slice of pie, and couldn’t go anywhere without running into someone he knew.

He is survived by his wife Rose of Lewistown; daughter Amanda Hill of Great Falls, MT; one brother Sherman D. Hill of Elkton AL; one grandson Brian.

He was preceded in death by his parents and step-father.
