Kenneth William Norton, age 63, passed away on January 16, 2026, at his home at the DY Junction in Zortman, Montana.
Kenneth was born in Ephrata, Washington, but Montana was where he built his life, his home, and his legacy. A true Montana man, he spent most of his years working the land and providing for his family through grit, determination, and an unmatched work ethic.
Known throughout the state as the number three antler buyer in Montana, Kenneth was a jack-of-all-trades who never shied away from hard work. He did whatever was necessary to care for those he loved. He famously built his own home with his bare hands while working full time as a cowboy—an accomplishment that spoke volumes about his strength, discipline, and pride.
Kenneth was one of the few great Missouri River cowboys, respected for his knowledge, resilience, and unwavering commitment to the work. He was a math whiz, able to add or multiply numbers faster than most could reach for a calculator. Even more impressive than his skills was his heart—huge and forgiving. Though he tried to be as hard as stone, he was endlessly generous with second chances and always showed up for the people in his life.
In his quieter moments, Kenneth found joy in his stamp collection, fishing, hunting, and simply looking over his old vehicles—each one holding a story of years gone by. He was, without question, one of the hardest workers you could have known, right up until the very end.
Kenneth is survived by his loving wife, Alice; his children; and his numerous grandchildren, siblings, all of whom were the center of his world. His legacy lives on through the family he worked so tirelessly to provide for and the lives he touched with his steady presence and big heart.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
