Jim was raised to a Master Mason in Judith Lodge #86 on March 8, 1960. He was the Worshipful Master in 1968, 1983, 2004, 2021, and held many offices over the years. Jim became a 50-year Master Mason on March 19, 2010. At his death, he had been a Mason for 66 years. He was very proficient in the Masonic work and could readily recite any Masonic degree work at any moment. Judith Lodge #86 consolidated with Friendship

Lodge #37 of Lewistown, MT. Jim was a member of Friendship Lodge #37 at the time of his passing.

He was initiated on February 4, 1981, as a member of the Vesper Chapter of Easter Star. He was a member for 45 years and served as Worthy Patron several times.

Jim was a trustee of the Utica School District before it merged with the Hobson School District. He was a past member of the Judith Basin County Stockgrowers and the Montana Stockgrowers Association.

The McCollum family would like to thank Tucker Hughes and his family, the sheriff's department, Jim's neighbors, the Frenchs, Perrys, Aunes, and Rosman's, the mail carrier, and all who have kept an eye out for him.
