Gordon D. Petersen, Jr. 65 of Lewistown died Sunday afternoon, March 19, 2017 at his home of natural causes. He was born September 29, 1951 in Red Lodge, MT the son of Gordon D and Mary Lou (Girvin) Petersen, Sr. He received his schooling through Junior High in Cordell, WA and High School in Shoreline, WA. In 1968 he entered the United States Army serving in Viet Nam War stationed in Turkey, working with cryptographic and sig 31-E operations. Following his discharge in 1969 he returned to Stanwood, Washington and he worked at Twin City Foods. He was united in marriage to Judy Dewater in Stanwood and following his divorce he went to Alaska where he worked on a fishing boat. He returned to California and lived in the Chico California area. He was injured in an accident near Tualatin, Oregon and was disabled. He lived in Washington and California until moving to Lewistown in 2012 to be near his mother and sisters.
Gordon loved fishing, riding his motorcycle, playing cribbage and music, teaching himself to play the guitar.
He is survived by his mother Mary Lou Wagner of Lewistown, MT; son Steven Thomas Petersen of Lakewood, WA; daughter Jennifer Lynn (Neil) Coyle of Everett, WA; brother Thomas W. (Heidi) Petersen of Marysville, WA; sisters Esther M. (Gary) Distad and Mary Ellen Anderson (Bill Apple) both of Lewistown, MT and Cathy (Bernie) Sturn of Billings, MT; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, one brother Mark Petersen and his grandparents.
Services for Gordon D. Petersen, Jr. will be held later his summer, cremation has taken place. The Cloyd Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Friends are asked to make memorials to Hospice of Central Montana, Fergus county Council on Aging Meals on Wheels Program, the Veterans Memorial Park or the charity of their choice and they may be left at the Cloyd Funeral Home.
