Gerald A. Roppe 91 of Lewistown died Sunday evening, July 26th, 2020, in Valle Vista Manor of natural causes. He was born June 10, 1929 in Windsor, VT the son of Gerald F. and Harriett (Smith) Roppe. He received his education in Vermont graduating from high school in 1947. He then enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1947. On January 26, 1957 he was united in marriage to Glenna Bozeman in Nickerson, KS. They lived throughout the United States while serving in the United States Navy until he retired in 1969 after 22 years as a Chief Petty Officer. They returned to Windsor, VT and he worked for Carriage House Chevrolet. In 1992 they moved to Pearce, AZ where they made their home until her death in 2002. He moved to Lewistown in 2004 where he made his home until the time of his death.

In his retirement he enjoyed Fishing, golfing and was an avid Boston Red Sox fan.

He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and a Past Master.

He is survived by one son Gerald P. of Las Vegas, NV and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife he was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters.

There will be no services for Gerald A. Roppe, as per his request, cremation has taken place with committal to be next to his wife in the Vermont State Veterans Cemetery. The Cloyd Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Friends are asked to make memorials to the Friendship Lodge #39 A.F. & A.M. of Lewistown or the charity of their choice and they may be left with the Cloyd Funeral Home. Condolences for the family may be posted online at www.cloydfuneralhome.com.
