Gary R. Nelson 86, of Moore was called home to his Lord and Savior on July 9th 2021. He was born April 7th 1935 at home, south of Moore the son of Archie F. and Alta I. (Thomas) Nelson. He attended the Trout Creek School until the 8th grade where he learned to hate Macaroni and Cheese because his teacher made it every day for lunch. Gary spent his time doing what he loved, working on the ranch south of Moore until he decided to serve his country by joining the Marines on May 5th 1955. He spent time in San Diego for boot camp and then was stationed on the U.S.S. Wasp Aircraft Carrier. He often laughed and told many stories about how that it took 35 Marines to handle a "ship full of Navy guys." Gary was very proud of his Marine career and mentioned many times that no one would ever believe how far he had gone on the ship. In the little over 2 years, he was on the ship he had crossed the Equator multiple times and the Artic Circle and always told us kids that he had gone around the world 3 times. Even went so far as to put up a giant world map in the hallway and marked with highlighters every port he had gone through. Gary had completed his tour with the Marines and then was united in marriage to Sheila Y. Brown on December 11th 1976 in Moore. Gary and Sheila had 4 children together Brett, Erin, Amie and Raelynn.

Ky-Leigh and Caitlin (Will Huff), Owen and Audrey Parker, Kimber, and Gage

Gary was proceeded in death by a baby girl Amie; his parents; sisters Connie Gauer and Barbara Durbin; brothers Clayton and Glen.

Gary had the best sense of humor and always a story or joke to tell. There was never a dull moment around him.
