Franklin J. Arthur

Franklin J. Arthur, 77, passed away peacefully on June 14, 2017 at his home in Winifred surrounded by family.

Franklin was born in Lewistown on December 18, 1939 to Walter and Loretta (Nelson) Arthur. He was raised in Suffolk and attended schools in Winifred graduating in 1958. Franklin thoroughly enjoyed racing fast cars and shooting guns.

After high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and Army Reserve. He farmed with his father and then the family moved to Wisconsin for several years.

Franklin worked for Peter Kiewet and Sons Construction as a Superintendent of Labor on bridge and road projects over a seven-state area.

He married Ramoncita Vigil in 1978 and welcomed daughter Teresa in 1979. Franklin and Ramoncita later separated in 1992.

Franklin returned to Winifred to re-unite with family and in Winifred he owned the Trails Inn Bar. He also operated many small service companies in the area.

Franklin married Donna Rowley on April 4, 2010 in Las Vegas. Franklin will always be remembered for his warm smile, humor, and as one who could always find a solution to any problem encountered.  

Franklin is survived by his wife Donna and daughter Teresa (David) Lindberg, his sisters Freeda Carlstrom and Alice Anderson, and his stepdaughter Cheryl Mann. He is survived by his stepson Mathew Rowley as well as 2 grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Franklin was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Betty Jensen.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 19, 2017 at the Winifred Community Center. A reception follows. Cloyd Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
