Dora May Fairbairn

Dora May Fairbairn 88 of Lewistown died Saturday evening, February 21, 2026 in Valle Vista Manor of natural causes. She was born on November 18, 1937 in Lewistown, the daughter of George R. and Beulah (Tillett) Fairbairn. Dora and her siblings attended a country school until it was destroyed by fire while she was in first grade, after which they moved to Lewistown and continued their education through eighth grade. She then worked on the family farm helping her dad until the age of 18. Dora moved into Lewistown and worked as a maid at the Calvert Hotel. A few years later she moved to Libby to help a diabetic friend raise her two children. She worked delivering the Missoulian from Missoula to Libby, every day for over 20 years. In 1991, Dora returned to Lewistown and lived with her sister, Fannie Parker. In August 2003, she underwent an appendectomy and subsequently entered the Central Montana Skilled Nursing Center, moving to Valle Vista Manor in 2025.

Dora was a very strong woman and enjoyed helping others and working outdoors. She found pleasure in Lewistown's walking trails, reading, and word search games.

Dora is survived by one brother John of Libby; niece Beth Fairbairn of Lewistown and nephews Jim Parker in Arizonia and Rodney Johnson in Arkansas.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and three sisters.

Graveside services for Dora M. Fairbairn will be Monday, March 2nd, 2026 at 1:30 p.m. in Central Montana Memorial Gardens of Lewistown. The Cloyd Funeral Home is assisting the family.
