Donald C. Thomas

Donald C. Thomas 80 of Lewistown and Moore died early Monday morning, October 9th, 2017 at his home of natural causes.  He was born January 10, 1937 in Lewistown the son of Clyde and Alma (Bender) Thomas.  He received his schooling in Trout Creek School and Moore High School graduating in 1955.  He then attended Montana State College in Bozeman for one year.  He returned to Lewistown and worked at the First National Bank.  He was united in marriage to Jean Lincoln and they lived in Lewistown until moving to Grand Rapids, MN in the mid 1960's where he continued in the banking business working for West Bank.  In 1977 they returned to Moore and they divorced.   He worked for the Montana Bank in Butte and then moved to Cut Bank and worked in Montana Bank in Browning.  On December 21, 1979 he was united in marriage to Barbara Paulsen in Lewistown.  They moved back to Moore in 1983 and he was the Administrator for the Lewistown Eagles Manor.  He went back to the First National Bank in 1984 doing farm loans.  In 1986 they moved to Scobey and he continued in the banking business in Scobey and Wolf Point working at Citizen's State Bank, later becoming Interstate Bank until he retired from banking in 2000 and returned to the ranch near Moore.  

 

Don enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, snow mobiling and they served as camp hosts for 4 years at Crystal Lake Camp Ground. 

 

He was a member of the Moore United Methodist Church, the Masonic Lodge and was a Past Master, Eastern Star, Little Belt Snow Mobile Club, serving as Vice President and was a certified instructor, Served as District 9 Representative for the State Snow Mobile Association, member of the Optimist Club and served as Firearms and Snow Mobile Safety Instructor and a life member of the NRA.

 

He is survived by his wife Barbara of Lewistown; sons Karl (Jacki) of Lewistown, David (Kim) of Billings, MT, Les (Chris) of Laurel, MT; daughters Tammi (Rich) Anderson of Ontonagon, MI and April Thomas of Colorado Springs, CO; step-son James Paulsen of Jacksonville, AR; brother Verland (Erlyne) of Huntley, MT; sister Sharon (Gary) Drake of Billings, MT; 11 grandchildren, 6 great granddaughters and several nieces and nephews.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.

 

Funeral Services for Donald C. Thomas will be Tuesday, October 17th, 2017 at 1100 a.m. in the Cloyd Chapel with committal to follow in Central Montana Memorial Gardens.  The Cloyd Funeral Home is assisting the family.
