Charles R. Taylor

March 2, 1942 — June 9, 2023

Charles “Charlie” Robert Taylor Jr. passed away on June 9th, 2023, from complications from COPD. Charlie was born on March 2nd, 1942, in Lewistown, MT to Alice and Charles Taylor Sr. He was their first born, later Gloria and Darlene were born.


Charlie joined the Navy in 1960 and completed his service in 1964. Charlie moved back to Lewistown and met Gloria Sturtz. They married on February 6th, 1965, and made their home in Lewistown. In 1966 Susan was born and in 1971 Sherry was born. Charlie made his living on the Milwaukee Rail Road and then at the Fergus County Road Department as Bridge Forman.


Charlie enjoyed being outside, fishing and tending to his garden.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Alice Taylor and sister Darlene (Lee) Kraft.


He is survived by his wife Gloria; daughters Susan Martin and Sherry (Willie) Hill; sister Gloria (James) Altenhofen; granddaughters Samantha Hill, Megan (Tucker) Sebly, and Shelby Hill; grandsons Ryan Hill, Dylan (Kerrigan) Martin, and Wyatt Hill; great grandsons Austyn Hill and Beau Taylor Selby who will be born in December; along with many nieces and nephews.


A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, July 8th, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. in the Eagle Club. In lieu of cards or flowers, please donate to Friends of the Missouri River Breaks Monument as he enjoyed camping and fishing there in his younger days. The Cloyd Funeral Home is assisting the family. Condolences for the family may be posted online at www.cloydfuneralhome.com.
