Sylvester W. Schindler

November 16, 2020 — November 11, 2020

Sylvester W. "Sie" Schindler 82 of Lewistown went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, November 16, 2020 at his home surrounded by his family.  He was born at home in Crystal Lake Township, south of Harvey, ND the son of Charlie and Ella (Brodehl) Schindler.  He was nicknamed "Vessy" by his mother and affectionally known as "Sie" later.  He received his education in North Dakota graduating from Harvey High School in 1956.  He then attended State School of Science in Wahpeton, ND and studied Auto Body for 2 years graduating in 1958.  On August 28, 1958 he was united in marriage to Judy Orman in Harvey, ND.  He worked in the autobody industry in North Dakota, Malta, MT and moving to Lewistown, MT in 1961.  He opened Antique Sie's Bodyshop which he operated until 1977.    Judy preceded him in death in 1995.  On May 28, 1999 he was united in marriage to Frances (Bateman) Hunter in Lewistown.  He worked for Farm Bureau Insurance for 43 years as an Agent until the time of his death.

Sie was Baptized in the Sheyenne River in the summer of 1954 when he was 16 years old.  His faith was very important to him!  At given times Sie would share a simple faith with Jesus as his personal Savior and the only way to get to Heaven was to trust in Him!

Sie was a "Jack of all trades" and wasn't afraid to tackle any project, big or small.  He was always willing to lend a hand to all who needed help.  He was a mentor and teacher to others in anything to do with autobody, mechanics, home improvement and anything with a motor.  He had a love for restoring old cars and driving them in local parades and car tours.

He was a member of the Central Baptist Church, Camp Maiden volunteer, the Eagles Lodge, Kiwanis Club, Central Montana Trail Dusters and donated time to many local community services.

He was a beloved and loving husband, father, step-father, grandfather and friend.

He is survived by his wife Frances Hunter of Lewistown; son Troy (Lynn) of Great Falls, MT; daughters Rollie (Jim) Pearson and Robin (Doug) Beardsley of South Lyon, MI; step-son Shawn Hunter of Lewistown; step-daughters Lori (Ron) Degenhart of Belgrade, MT, Shelley McCord of Lewistown and Jamie (Nathan) Putnam of Bozeman, MT; one sister Sharon Whigham of Stockton, CA; 6 grandchildren Mandy, Jesse, Shelby, Chloe, Logan and Camryn; 8 step-grandchildren Brooklyn, Bailey, Madison, Caden, Taylor, Hope, Payton and Jackson and several nieces and nephews.
