Dorothy R.”Dot” Wickens 84 of Winifred passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family after a long battle with Parkinson’s Lewy Body disease, Friday afternoon, July 16, 2010.  She was born July 31, 1925 in Winchester, Kentucky the daughter of John and Anna (King) Hickey.  She received her schooling in Clark County Kentucky graduating from Winchester High School.  Dot moved from Kentucky to Montana where she met and married the love of her life Larry E. Wickens on December 26, 1946 in Lewistown.  Although she lived in Montana she stayed very close to family and friends from high school and continued to see them often.

Dot had a love for life, especially her husband, her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, brother, sisters, friends and any friend of her children that came through her door.  They lived, ranched and raised their family near Winifred where she stayed until her death.

Sot belonged to many organizations but her favorite was playing volleyball, watching her Kentucky Wildcats and the Derby and any sporting event that her loved ones were involved with.

She is survived by her husband of nearly 64 years Larry of Hilger, MT; sons Mike (Eva) of Hilger, MT, Joe (Linda) of Townsend, MT, John (Diane) of Hilger, daughters Rita Brown of Missoula, MT, Paula (Paul) Burnham of Lewistown, MT, Cheri (Jeff) Kjersem of Hilger, MT; brothers John King (Betty) Hickey of Lexington, KY and Paul (Judy) Hickey of Austin, TX.  22 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Florence, Christine Hickey and Mary Katherine Gardner and one brother Jim Hickey.

Friends are asked to make memorials to the Central Montana Hospice House or the charity of their choice and they may be left at the Cloyd Funeral Home.

We were very blessed to have her as a wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and sister.  She was our best friend and biggest cheerleader.  With the help of hospice and the wonderful care we received, we were able to end this journey with great peace.

We were very sorry to read about Dot's passing. We knew her when we lived in Lewistown in the late 60's and early 70's as a very dear friend.

Dear Larry and your whole family -- Dot was a wonderful person. The stories of how she ventured out west and found true love are legend in the Hickey family. And I treasure memories of the brief times we spent on your ranch and with the great Wickens family. Lots of friends and family share your loss. Aunt Dot will be remembered by all of us.

Dot was such a grand lady. she always had such a loving smile on her face and she meant alot to me. She will be so greatly missed. My daughter Katrina still has the little pink 'SUPER KID" baby blanket she made for her and uses it for her daughters now. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this time. Brenda
