Nelita L. (Kolar) Schlosser

Funeral services for Nelita L. Schlosser will be held Saturday, February 13, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in St Leo’s Catholic Church. Cremation will follow. Cloyd Funeral Home & Cremation Service is assisting the family with arrangements.

Kolar on November 24, 1952. She attended St. Leo’s High School in Lewistown MT, earned an Associate’s Degree in Office Technology from Billings Vo Tech Center, a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration at Montana State University Billings, and a Master of Arts (Social Work) from Madison University. Nelita was serving as the Adult Protection Services Officer for the areas of Fergus, Judith Basin, Petroleum, & Wheatland Counties. Nelita cared greatly for her clients and one of her proudest recent accomplishments was the secret santa gift giving program she established for the elderly. She was an active and dedicated member of the Youth Justice Council and was instrumental in working with a local service organization in establishing a college scholarship for the Youth Chairman. She was often seen in the summertime with large buckets of fresh produce to share with friends, family and clients.

She is survived by her loving children, John (Michele) of Lewistown, MT, Liebe Schlosser of MD, Elisa (Keith) Toler of Bozeman, MT, Benette Schlosser of Lewistown, MT and Charine Schlosser of Billings, MT; four grandchildren; her mother and stepfather, Josephine and David Shipman of Lewistown, MT; and siblings, Phillip (Darla) Kolar of Lewistown, MT, Laurence Kolar of Loon Lake, WA, Francine (Chet) Cummings of Saco, MT, Eleanor (Pat) Doucette of Malta, MT, Mary Kolar of Lewistown, MT, Sheila (Michael) Gioioso of Billings, MT, Andy Shipman of Kalispell, MT and Zelda (Han) Boogman of Billings, MT. Nelita is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father Frank Kolar and an infant daughter.

Nelita enjoyed sharing nature walks with her dog, Daisy. She had a true passion and talent for photography, a great appreciation for local ornithology, wildflowers and history, and was an avid reader. Her favorite pastime was being with those she loved and was known for her gift of loving others unconditionally.

Friends are asked to make memorials to the Secret Santa Gift Giving Program c/o Adult Protective Services and may be left at the Cloyd Funeral Home.

I've known Nelita for a long while. That bit of my history with your family is well known to you. More recently,I had the pleasure of working with Nelita on many occasions in the ER at CMMC. She was always so competent, and cared very much about her clients. With her help, we did some good things in the Adult Protective Services realm. I'm shocked and saddened by her untimely death. I'll miss her help, her style, and her smile. JD

We were so shocked to hear of Nelita's passing. We have such fond memories of when she lived in our neighborhood at Gorham Park. She watched our girls while they were in grade school. We were so sad when she said she couldn't watch our youngest any more because she was going back to school. But we knew that was better for her. We kept in contact because our girls were of the same age. We enjoyed the many summer evening visits while rounding up the kids. Our heartfelt saddness to all the family.

I have known Nelita since we were young. It was quite a shock to hear of her death as she was still so young. My prayers and sympathy go out to her family. I have not had the pleasure of being around her for years but after reading about her I know that her hearty laugh and ready smile will long be remembered and missed.

No words can expressed the heartfelt sympathies that we feel for Nelita's family as well as the profound loss that our family feels. Nelita was "adopted" by the youth in our home years ago. My prayers are with you all at this time. I worked with Nelita for a time and always enjoyed you smile and exuberance. When she left Billings to return to Lewistown she gave me Blue Iris's that still bloom each spring. She was a very special person and I am grateful that I knew her.

For over fourty years i called Nell my freind. It was only Nelita if we were mad at each other. What a shock to open my paper, today and see that someone i new and cared about was gone. Nelita was such a wonderful woman, very proud of her children and grandchildren, and very humble about all of her many accomplishments. She was more than a friend to many, for me she was a life coach and a great cheerleader. She pushed me to succeed, to never give up and always had the right answer:) My heart is heavy knowing I won't have her to lean on. My deepest sympathy to all of you. What a shock to learn of her untimely death. Nelita worked tirelessly for all of her clients and had a "large heart" for each and every one of them. She had a quiet manor but could move mountains if need be to get whatever was needed done for each person. I worked with her through my job and her dedication was evident to me. My deepest sympathy as you begin your grieving process.

I don't know where to begin. Nelita was a wonderful person and her passing has affected numerous people. I met Nelita 7 or 8 years ago when I applied to be on the Youth Justice Council. She has been a part of my life since. My mom lives 2 blocks from where she was living and she would walk by with her dog and always stop to visit. Her heart was always in what ever she was doing. I walk by her door now and wait to hear her laugh or poke her head out and say "what are you doing?" and no one is there. Know that she touched many peoples lives and her love and compassion will live on for ever.
