Memorial Services for Darlene V. White will be Friday, January 22, 2010 at 3:00 p.m. in the Hobson School with inurnment to follow in Philbrook Cemetery at Hobson. The Cloyd Funeral Home & Cremation Service is assisting the family.
Darlene V. White, 70 of Hobson, died Monday, January 18, 2010 at Benefis Healthcare in Great Falls of natural causes. She was born June 24, 1939 to parents Crist and Elizabeth (Scheck) Metzger in Glen Ullin, North Dakota. She received her schooling in a country school near Glen Ullin, ND. She then began working in the meat processing plant there until her marriage to Gale White on December 22, 1956 in Hebron, ND. They lived there until moving to Forsyth, MT the next year. They moved to Buffalo, MT in the late 1950’s where they lived until 1967 when they moved to Hobson, MT. She worked in the school for 25 years retiring in the mid 1990’s. They continued to live in Hobson until his death in 2004. She continued to live there until her death.
Darlene was very active in her community, always having an open door for her friends, neighbors and children in the community. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and served as a local and state officer, a 4 H Leader for many years, she taught many children the art of leather craft, she also enjoyed quilting, gardening, decorating cakes and was the Hobson Correspondent for the Lewistown News Argus for many years.
She is survived by two sons Albert (Debbie) and Claude (Linda) both of Lewistown, MT; two daughters Charmaine White of Salt Lake City, UT and Lynette White of Hobson, MT; three brothers Gary Metzger of Columbus, MT, Levi and Ray Metzger both of Lead, SD; five sisters Helen Sailor, Florence Zimmerman, Bernice Kinnischtzke all in North Dakota, Erna Roth in Washington and Garoldine Rabel in Idaho. 10 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her parents, one sister and five brothers.
Friends are asked to make memorials to the Hobson Scholarship Fund, the Hobson Library or the charity of their choice and they may be left at the Cloyd Funeral Home.

My thoughts and prayers are with all of you. Some of my best memories of high school are of your mom and dad working together on the school and your mom's laughter as she either worked in the kitchen or helped your dad at the school. I know your memories of her love and laughter will bring you comfort in the days to come.
