John W. Gordon

No services will be held for John W. Gordon. Cremation has taken place. Cloyd Funeral Home & Cremation Service is assisting the family with arrangements.

John W. Gordon, 92 of Lewistown, died Tuesday morning, October 18th at Valle Vista Manor of natural causes. He was born June 25, 1919 to parents Alex and Petra (Berqoust) Gordon in Moore, MT. He received his education in Moore. On July 27, 1942 John was united in marriage to Ann Jonas, they later divorced. John worked many years as a brick layer for Frank Valach. He later moved to Kalispell where he worked various jobs. In 2010 he returned to Lewistown where he lived until the time of his death.

John loved to socialize and was a great story teller. With a John Wayne voice, he made the stories believable whether true or not.

He is survived by one daughter, Carol (Don) Waite of Lewistown, MT; four sons, John of Great Falls, MT, James (Chris) of Roundup, MT, Jerome (Diane) of Miles City, MT and Jerrold (Kathy) of Billings, MT; long time companion, Phyllis Leonard of Kalispell, MT; 19 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Larry and two sisters.

We were sad to hear about John passing away. John was definitely a character that was not duplicated. We considered John a good friend and he will really be missed. I can already see John and my father n law (Doug) drinking coffee together and still telling stories at the Sykes in the sky. Our prayers are with you and we sure understand how hard it is when they are gone.

I was sad to hear of John's passing. He was a loyal friend and customer of my parents for years at Sykes' Grocery. He had such an engaging smile and I enjoyed seeing him and Phyliss when I come to Kalispell to visit. My prayers are with you all at this time. MJ Inman
