Memorial services for Betty A. Scally will be held Saturday, October 15, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in the Cloyd Chapel with inurnment to follow in Central Montana Memorial Gardens.  Cloyd Funeral Home & Cremation Service is assisting the family with arrangements.

Betty A. Scally, 85 of Lewistown, went to the “Great Quilting Bee in the Sky” Monday, October 10, 2011 at Central Montana Medical Center of natural causes.  She was born July 22, 1926 to parents Oscar “Billy” W. and Carrie L. (Jones) Swan in Everett, WA.  The family later moved to Montana and ranched in the Snowy Mountains where she received her education in a one room schoolhouse.  At age 16, Betty and the family moved into Lewistown where she worked at First National Bank.  She soon met John Scally at a dance at the Moose Club.  On April 10, 1945 Betty was united in marriage to John P. Scally in Lewistown, MT.  They were blessed with two sons, Richard on July 31, 1946 and Mark on June 10, 1950.  The family made their home in Lewistown.  

Betty enjoyed quilting and gardening, spending time with her family and loved being in the mountains surrounded by nature.  She was always up for a drive to the mountains where she could have a picnic and spend all day hiking and picking wildflowers.

She is survived by one son, Mark of Riverton, WY; 2 granddaughters, Debra (Layton) Morgan of Colorado Springs, CO and Crystal Scally of Lewistown, MT; two grandsons, Mike (Cathy) Scally of Spokane, WA and Mike Scally of Glendive, MT; one brother, Gerald (Joan Wood) Swan of Phoenix, AZ; four great-grandchildren, Dakota and Austin Scally and Malea and Steven Mercado; a special niece, Georgia (Don) Cline of Lewistown, MT and other numerous nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, John, one son, Richard, one brother, Oscar Swan, one sister, Vivienne Harwood and one granddaughter, Terri Scally.

In lieu of flowers, friends are asked to make memorials to the Council On Aging or the charity of their choice and may be left at the Cloyd Funeral Home.
